The Star has launched a new initiative aimed at bridging the gap between public health information, and those who need it most. #VaccineTalk is a series of question and answer sessions between Star reporters and trusted public health experts and doctors in multiple languages.
The #VaccineTalk in Mandarin features Star reporter Joanna Chiu as the host, interviewing Dr. Alan Li, 李大為醫生, a primary care physician at Regent Park Community Health Centre in Toronto.
The questions asked were gathered through speaking with community associations in Toronto and the GTA about what questions they are hearing from people in the area that they need answered. Chiu and Li also touched on some questions that they have heard through their work.
They discuss navigating vaccines, including what to expect after you receive a vaccine, the differences between the vaccines, everything you need to know about AstraZeneca, and more.
This video was filmed at the end of March 2021. For the most recent information on vaccines, visit the Ontario government’s site, or your local public health unit.
For further support in Mandarin or Cantonese, the PROTECH research project is available specifically to support Chinese Canadians during the pandemic, and includes a virtual information hub with up-to-date information.
