Mindfulness means being aware with intention and connecting to the present moment without judgement. We can practice mindfulness any time – when we are drinking tea, having a shower, brushing our teeth, listening to music, talking to a friend, washing dishes, etc.
Mindfulness is a practice that has existed across different cultures, especially in Asia, as a grounding practice for thousands of years. In Western societies, mindfulness has become popular since the 1970s when many people visited Asia to study meditation. Mindfulness is now adopted as a practical way to address health challenges and promote health and wellbeing.
During a time of high stress with many distractions and uncertainties, mindfulness and meditation exercise may help you stay resilient by grounding you to the present moment.
There are many popular apps that can help you learn and get into a mindfulness practice (e.g., Headspace [iOS][Googleplay], Mindfulness Daily [iOS][Googleplay], and Smiling Mind [iOS][Googleplay]).
