As of March 23, York Region residents 70 years of age or older (born in 1951 or earlier) are eligible to book appointments to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Bookings open March 23 at 8:30 a.m.
York Region, in partnership with our local hospitals, continues to follow the Province’s three-phased Vaccine Distribution Plan. We are currently in Phase 1 of the plan.
Eligibility
The following individuals are now eligible to book an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine:
- York Region residents 75 years of age and older (born in 1946 or earlier)
- Highest, Very High and High Priority Health Care Workers who live OR work in York Region
- Staff, essential caregivers and any residents that have not yet received a first dose in long-term care homes, high-risk retirement homes and First Nations elder care homes
- Alternative level of care patients in hospitals who have a confirmed admission to a long-term care home, retirement home or other congregate care home for seniors
- Staff, residents and caregivers in retirement homes and other congregate care settings for seniors
- Indigenous adults and adult members of their households
- Adults with a chronic condition receiving home care services and who live in York Region (appropriate documentation will be required)
Clinics appointments are not available for any other age or priority group at this time. Do not try to book an appointment if you do not meet the eligibility.
Residents will be notified when they are eligible to receive the vaccine based on supply.
Select pharmacies in Kingston, Toronto and Windsor are now distributing the AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD vaccine to residents between the age of 60 to 64 years of age (born in 1961). To find a pharmacy near you, visit Ontario.ca/pharmacycovidvaccine. Pharmacies have been identified as part of York Region’s COVID-19 Vaccine Plan; as supply increases.
Book a Vaccine Appointment
Before you book:
- Vaccines are by APPOINTMENT ONLY for eligible individuals; no walk-in appointments.You will be turned away if you do not meet the above eligibility criteria
- Only book ONE appointment; do not book appointments at multiple clinics
- Appointments should be booked for FIRST dose appointments only; if you did not receive a second dose appointment at time of your original booking you will be contacted with information on second dose appointments
- Eligible residents who are not able or not comfortable booking an online appointment are encouraged to seek out a support person (caregiver, family member or friend) to assist with booking an appointment on their behalf
- Family members or caretakers may accompany eligible residents to their appointments
- A health card is not required to book an appointment, except for the Cornell Community Centre clinic
- Proof of age and residence will be required on the day you receive your vaccine; Health care workers are asked to bring proof of employment (i.e. photo ID or letter from employer)
- Before you attend a COVID-19 vaccine clinic, it’s important you prepare for your COVID-19 vaccine

Residents who require transportation assistance for vaccine appointments can contact YRT Mobility On-Request at 1-866-744-1119 to arrange a ride. Interpretation services are available if needed.
