CCNCTO is now recruiting new participants for our education equity project. We are looking for 10 Chinese-identified student ambassadors who are 14-18 years old, and 10 Chinese parent ambassadors whose children are in high school. We welcome participants with precarious immigration status, including undocumented, visitor visas, refugee claimants, temporary working permit holders and international students to apply.
This project aims to increase both parents’ and students’ awareness of the education system/policy and to increase their capacity to advocate and organize for a more equitable, inclusive education space. The program includes monthly meetings/training/forums. The parents and students will get the chance to build more community connections, gain leadership skills, and event/workshop planning/faciliation experience. CCNCTO will provide volunteer hours and reference letters for both students and parents.
