Migrants Resource Centre Canada Presents: Immigration Policy Changes under COVID-19 Workshop
_________

October 21st, 2020 at 7:30 PM (Zoom, online)
_________

Workshop Facilitator: Jecris Tubigon (Parkdale Intercultural Association, Northeast Central Immigration)

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, processing of applications related to immigration have been delayed and changed. The government introduced new temporary policies designed to supposedly make it easier for migrants to work in response to the needs of businesses and employers. There have also been adjustments about who can leave and enter Canada during the pandemic.

This workshop will focus on public policies exempting certain visitors in Canada from immigration requirements and exemptions to work permit conditions when changing employment. The general process of how COVID-19 is affecting immigration policies, processing times, and what it means for migrant workers and their families will also be covered.

This project will also serve to provide a peer support group for workers to connect and build relationships with other grassroots organizations in the Greater Toronto Area.
